Sept. 10th is the Internet Slowdown

If you have not realised it yet. The internet is slow-on purpose – today. Why? Because we are on protest for an open internet. US, you are getting way too bureaucratic and have obviously lost your way. You still have a chance to get your act back together before it’s too late. Let’s not let the almighty dollar ruin the original intent of the Internet.

Net neutrality: what is it and why does it matter?

The Internet empowers everyone to speak, create, learn, and share. It is controlled by no single organization, individual, or government. It connects the world, and we should protect it.

Why is it so important to me? It has been shown that when you restrict enough information, you can shape how the people react and what they believe in.  That is why governments try so hard to be the gateskeepers who control and regulate information to the people.  That is why service providers try hard to control the roads that bring the information – they will try to add as many tolls as possible to amass more profit; which is not wrong as they are a commercial entity.

But the role of the Internet is much bigger than something commercial. It is about sharing of knowledge and information across boundaries that previously was not possible to be crossed. From cheaper medical consultancy to meeting new people to budding entrepreneurs. The Internet is at crossroads now.

That is why we have to fight to keep it free.
